6 Days, 5 Nights - Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha & Masai Mara National Reserve
KENYA'S FAMOUS PARKS
Six days gives us plenty of time to really experience these very popular parks and all the wildlife wonders they hold. Amboseli and Masai Mara are known for their great numbers of large and small game offering lots of sightings in these two busy reserves. At Lake Naivasha and nearby parks, you’ll have the fun of sailing, walking, and bicycling safaris to get near the animals. This medium-length safari will have you exploring five wonderful destinations and all the natural wildlife that are waiting for your discovery.
SAFARI PLAN
DAY 1 – NAIROBI – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK (250 KM – APPROX. 3.5 – 4 HOURS)
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi area hotel, Nairobi airport or Nairobi area residence. We’ll head out for Amboseli National Park on the Nairobi – Mombasa Highway
Our journey begins travelling over the African savannah with its local farms. You may spot Masai herdsmen in their colourful wraps tending their cattle.
We’ll enjoy lunch at our Amboseli accommodation, with time to freshen up and relax.
As promised, the imposing form of Mt. Kilimanjaro dominates the scenery of this small park, where wildlife are often spotted through the sparse scrub.
The afternoon will see us on game drives, and we’re sure to see, Amboseli’s famous elephants marching to or from a favourite watering hole.

DAY 2 – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – FULL DAY
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning is a very special time for a game drive. You’ll see the park come alive with the first stirrings of wildlife as the gentle early light plays upon the trees and plains.
We’ll have breakfast and then we’re off on another drive looking for lion, cheetah and smaller game like hyena, fox, baboon, and monkey.
Amboseli enjoys a rich palette of birdlife as well – cranes, egret, heron, falcon, and eagle have all been spotted at the park’s marshes and lakes.
We can also spot wildlife from the lookout vantage of Observation Hill where we may see buffalo, hippo, pelican and still more avian life below.
As evening approaches, look to Mt. Kilimanjaro as its snowy peak may appear through the breaking clouds.

DAY 3 – AMBOSELI – LAKE NAIVASHA (340 KM: APPROX. 5-6 HRS)
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
We’ll be up early for breakfast and bid farewell to Amboseli National Park after Checking out from our Lodge
We will Journey through the Great Rift Valley seeing the exciting landscape with its dramatic escarpment and we will stop and enjoy the views.
We should arrive at our Lake Naivasha accommodation in time for lunch and have a relaxed evening.
If you are not tired, we can head to the fresh water Lake and Enjoy a boat ride and a walking safari

DAY 4 – LAKE NAIVASHA – MASAI MARA (240KM – APPROX. 4-5 HOURS)
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Let’s rise for an early boat safari across Lake Naivasha (if only we will not have done it), with the morning sun breaking upon the lake as we float by awakening hippos and exotic birds. This is Africa at its most serene.
We’ll follow that with a pleasant sojourn, a guided walking safari to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a jewel of a reserve that quietly shows off rich flocks of birds and grazing animals such as waterbuck, zebra, and gazelle.
How lucky to find ourselves in such a heavenly sanctuary!
And now we’re off to the Masai Mara National Reserve, the most popular park in the country. You’ll soon see why.
Your first views of the park will be of its rolling, open spaces, delightful acacia trees and perhaps some early wildlife sightings.
The Mara is known to possess the greatest concentration of wildlife in the region. So, let’s start looking for those Big Five, plus giraffe, zebra, ostrich, and so many others.

DAY 5 – FULL DAY AT THE MASAI MARA
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Your day will be filled with unlimited game drives and we’ll begin early, traversing these golden savannahs in search of the large game like lion, leopard, cheetah, and the smaller hyena and jackal.
Sightings are common in this park so you’re sure to be active and engaged throughout our drives.
If you’re here from July through October, you’ll witness a stunning influx of wildlife into the park during the Great Migration – the season when gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra flood into the park over the Mara River in a timeless cycle of birth, death and renewal.
We’ll take a picnic lunch by the Mara River where we may see hippo and also crocodile awaiting the influx of wildlife.
We have provided still more optional activities for you in the park. We can arrange for a visit to the local Maasai people, to see their village and learn about their culture and lifestyle. This would be a good opportunity to pick up some of their colourful beaded handiwork.

DAY 6 – MASAI MARA – NAIROBI (265 KMS – 6 HRS)

After our final safari breakfast, we’ll then check out from our accommodation and visit the local Masai community and learn their way of life and after that we will enjoy our drive as we head back to Nairobi.
We should arrive at about 16:00 hrs. (4:00 pm), and we’ll will bring you to your Nairobi hotel, residence or the airport.
From elephants and Mt. Kilimanjaro to sailing and walking safaris to the great wash of wildlife at the Masai Mara, this will be a very full African safari.
