2 DAYS LAKE NAIVASHA/NAKURU ATTRACTIONS

In just two days you’ll get to explore all the color, wildlife, and diversity of these two attractive Rift Valley lakes. Freshwater Lake Naivasha hosts hippo and other aquatic life attracted to its shores. Lake Nakuru is alkaline, drawing in bright, pink flamingoes, pelicans, kingfishers and ostriches. Making both these lake areas even more exciting are the herds of wildlife surrounding their shores – wildlife like zebra, giraffe, rhino. This mini safari boasts a wonderful variety of animals for you to spot.
Lake Nakuru National Park is a fascinating mix of dazzling birdlife with the more traditional land-based safari wildlife. There’s a rhino sanctuary that features a large population of white and black rhino. You can also find the rare Rothschild’s giraffe feeding in the park’s acacia forests. Other unexpected surprises moving over its shores and through its woodlands – waterbucks, hyenas, baboons and monkeys.
There’s so much to see and do at Lake Naivasha and close-by Crescent Island Sanctuary. Besides going on game drives , you may find yourself taking a boat safari and a walking safari to get up close to the wildlife. All of this in two very active days filled with new memories for you. If you think of anything special you’d like to add or do, talk to us and Homeland Adventures Kenya will work to make it happen.
SAFARI ITINERARY
Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park: (160 km: Approx. 3hrs)
07:00 hrs. – Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Nairobi airport.
We’ll head out for Lake Nakuru. This is a scenic drive through the sweeping farmlands of the central highlands. We’ll be passing through the gorges of the Rift Valley escarpment.
Along the way, we’ll stop to stretch, refresh and enjoy these scenic vistas.
You’ll enjoy a full day of game drives over the stunning terrain of Lake Nakuru Park. This is a place of great rocky escarpments, waterfalls, forests, wooded hills and of course, the lake itself. Besides the flamingoes, you’ll be treated to flocks of storks, herons, eagles, and pelicans.
The birdlife is profuse but so is the land-based wildlife and you may see some of the larger species like rhino, buffalo and possibly lion.
Lake Nakuru is compact which only increases our chances of spotting the great variety of animals that inhabit this very diverse park.
OVERNIGHT – We’ll spend the night at a Nakuru safari lodge / Hotel of your choice.
Choose from economy, comfort or luxury accommodations, depending on your budget, style, and taste.
Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha (70 kms; Approx. 2 hrs)
We’ll enjoy more bird and game viewing around the lake and through the environs of the park.
Then, we’re off on a short drive to Lake Naivasha.
We’ll get to experience a boat safari across the lake as we sail past hippos, birdlife and perhaps spot grazing zebra and antelope on the shore. But also keep an eye out for buffalo, eland, impala and occasionally… leopard.
Then, we’ll take a special trip to nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a beautiful private reserve that is filled with animals, mostly gentle grazers. The Sanctuary’s naturalist will take us on a guided walking safari to view the herds of wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, gazelle and more.
DROP-OFF –
It’s time to head back to Nairobi. We should arrive back in town toward the early evening and will bring you to your hotel, residence or the airport.
Though it was a quick safari, we’re sure you’ll agree it was a busy one filled with numerous sightings and fond recollections.
Thanks for joining us on this special two-lake safari. When you next make your safari plans, we hope you’ll think of Homeland Adventures Kenya.
